Mobile & Video in Recruitment Conference – A Great Success
Posted on 30. Sep, 2010 by admin.
The worlds first Mobile and Video in Recruitment Conference took place in London on the 28th September and judging by the delegates feedback it was a great success!.
Here are just some of the comments received about Conference:
- “Very informative, a good split between the two sectors”
- “Very well organised, plus impactful speakers who were engaging”
- “Really interesting content, some useful content/tips to take back”
- “You had my attention all day which was unusual for me!”
- “Very impressed with the range and quality of the speakers – great breadth and depth of knowledge – inspiring!”
The Conference Programme covered mainly Video in the morning and then Mobile in the afternoon.
Video In Recruitment
The first presentation was by Luke McKend from Google who talked about how to build your brand on YouTube. Luke showed some examples of how companies are using YouTube today for branding purposes but noted that there aren’t that many companies using online video specifically for recruitment. He felt that this offered some great opportunities for companies to pick up on in the future, especially as the number of job related searches on YouTube (now the second largest search engine in the world) is increasing month by month.
The next speaker was Nick Price from Working Films who covered the power of using film as part of an employer branding campaign. Nick also showed three examples of how the power of film is helping both public and private sector companies recruit.
The third video related presentation was by Kes and Dimitar from Inovaz who covered how to use video as part of the recruitment process. By the way, did you know that the first mention of a video resume was back in 1981, almost 30 years ago!
After the third presentation there was was a Video Discussion Panel which then led to the first Mobile related presentation of the day.
Mobile In Recruitment
This was from Gary Robinson, Digital Marketing Manager at Jobsite, who talked about their Future of Mobile Recruitment Report which you can download here for free.
The first speaker of the afternoon was Trevor Shonfeld from Roundpoint who gave a comprehensive insight into the mobile industry. This was followed by Dave Martin from AllTheTopBananas who covered the use of mobile apps in recruitment.
The final mobile related presentation was a joint one between Andy Bamford from Thirty Three (a Recruitment Communications company) and Stuart Affleck from LV=. This was a case study showing how LV= used a combination of mobile and image recognition software in an innovate way as part of a recruitment campaign. You can see the video they showed at the conference below:
The final session of the day was a mobile discussion panel followed by a networking and drinks reception. A perfect way to end to a successful conference!

How To Check How Many People Visit Your Recruitment Site Via A Mobile Phone
Posted on 22. Sep, 2010 by admin.
I was talking to a Recruiter last week and the subject of mobile recruiting came up. What was interesting was that although they used their SMART phone a lot as part of their job for making phone calls and visiting web sites they couldn’t understand why some of the web sites they visited and didn’t come out very well on their phone? “Surely that company will be losing money because I can’t go online and buy what I wanted from them” they said.
And then the penny dropped …
“But what about my own web site? Can people view it on a mobile phone and search and apply for jobs and how much money I am losing by potental clients and job seekers not being able to view my web site correctly?”
Luckily there is free a way to find out how many people visit your web site using a mobile phone!
How To Check The Number of Mobile Phone Visitors To Your Web Site
If you have Google Analytics on your site then login and go to the left hand menu where you will see “Mobile” listed in the menu.
If you click on “Mobile” you can then choose “Mobile Devices”. Here is a screenshot of what it should look like:

If you then click on Mobile Devices” you should then see a list of mobile devices that people are using to visit your site (it will also list the number of visitors as well):

So if you ever wondered how many people are visiting your web site you can now find out. The numbers might well surprise you!
