video in recruitment

In our latest review of online recruitment videos we take a look at the recent recruitment video from Facebook.

If you wanted to get an idea of the work environment, the people and the types of work and projects they are working then this video gives a great insight into the company.

Some of the points from the video that came across for me were that Mark Zuckerberg (CEO) said that you don’t have to have a lot of experience to make a big difference (although no doubt you will need to have very good skills and knowledge) and that there is a culture of ” how can  they do things in a different way to how everyone else does,  as what they are trying to do is different to what everyone else has done before.”

There is also a culture of  “just get out there and try something as no one will criticise you if you tried things for the right reasons”.

Another interesting point for me is that they feel that they are only just getting started in terms of the vision of what they feel is possible to achieve in the future.

Once again it shows the power that video can offer as part of recruitment marketing campaign as opposed to the written word.

Do you have a good story to tell about your business that could attract people to work for your company? If so, then video can be a great way to telling that story!

Yes I’ve noticed here in Ireland an increasing use of these videos to attract top talent. AOL recently used a similar strategy and given the popularity of employer branding, these videos work very well. I think we’re going to see a lot more online video in the recruitment process not only just to attract applications but also in the interview and testing processes as well.
